Friday Family Night

Occasionally, when our options for having fun are narrow, we’ll take a little trip over to the Dog Park at Cherokee Park. Jameson is completely entertained by the dogs and we’re entertained by both Jameson and the dog owners. We just want to say, “Kids are so much cooler!… and No! Those are not your kids!” A few times back we met a couple walking their dog around the outside of the fenced area. They exclaimed, “We’re thinking of joining, ya know, he needs to be socialized…” We just abut lost it Rolling with laughter in the car ride home. Animals are so far below the human race and our culture has personified them in the most hilarious ways. Now that all the dog lovers are scowling, please understand that I am not a dog hater. I love other people’s dogs, for short periods of time, and have loved my own dogs in childhood. But, there is a level that is just not right when it comes to a human-animal relationship…

This one barked a little too close, but the relationship was quickly healed.

Leslie, I believe parents have created the ‘Go, Go, Go, Do, Do, Do’ mentality that kids have now. Going to a dog park, kids park (simple slides and swings), our ‘park’, or just strolling along a nature path should be the norm and the longer or more expensive trips the exceptions. Simple is easy with little ones and I think we make it harder than is should be.
Thanks for your great pictures and narratives ~ Aunt Theresa

oh oh oh… I share your thoughts completely and have been thinking of this a lot lately! It’s crazy that people care more for their pets than humans. I saw an advert on TV raising money to help feed and care for dogs who were abandoned…. Out of control!

How fun! You’ll have to tell me exactly where this dog park is. Jane would absolutely LOVE it. She gets soooo excited whenever she sees a dog!

Very cute. I’m totally with you on the animal thing. People around here LOVE their dogs. The worst thing I’ve seen is people who are pushing around baby strollers. Oh, for their babies, right? No. For their dogs.

Ok I am a dog lover. I agree that some people do get carried away. If you have not seen it you should watch the movie Marley & Me. Dogs only want to please their owners and especialy older people who live alone they bring so much joy to their lives.

    Love

The pictures are great! Your comment about dogs is not but I guess that’s your oppinion. For some people animals are all they have and if they want to treat them like their child then who am i to judge! Some are not as fortunate enough to have children like you and me! And yes i do believe their dog cat whatever fur ball they choose becomes that! Be happy that we humans are capable of so much love even to our four legged friends.
